The Civil War was the defining event of the 19th Century. It changed America forever, as well as the rest of the world. America emerged the victor from this conflict as it eventually adopted the ideology that a state could not exist where there is corruption, poverty, or lawlessness. The concept that a citizen could live in a state where his or her God was the only authority and the people ruled over their own lives, rather than a despotic government. The Civil War also paved the way for the creation of the United States of America. Today, it seems that the Civil War has faded into history; a story of a once great nation torn apart by two sides that cared not for the rule of law or the people; a lesson that is timeless and has yet to be learned. The Civil War may be a story of states rights, but it was about far more than that. It was a story of right versus wrong, of freedom versus tyranny, of good versus evil. Today, the American flag is as much a symbol of the American way as it is a symbol of the American battle. It is a flag that represents the men and women who died while seeking to defend that way of life that we now celebrate. It is a flag that represents the ideals that inspired the countrys first patriots and its first presidents. All Americans should be proud to fly this flag and to be a part of what symbolizes the best of our nation. But let us not forget that no matter the flags of the opposing side, that the United States of America, remains the greatest country in the world. And that is why I, as the Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces will not allow people of good will to be divided, no matter how long it takes, no matter how far it causes us to fall behind. I vow that we will keep working until we can no longer do so, until we are exhausted, until we are no longer the light in the world but rather have lost all of our dignity. But as a nation, we must not succumb to the temptation of a divided loyalties. As far as I am concerned, it is time to take care of the enemy SighWhat do you think happened to the world. Sigh, Nothing happened, though it may have seemed as if it did. I dont know whether it is better or worse than it was. As the saying goes, we cannot see into the future. Sigh, And I havent been thinking very much about the future lately. I see that there is work to be done as well as the rest of you Muff.
