Mould and mildew removal technique tested by Express Online
Silicone is usually a white colour, sometimes called caulking that fills the space between a sink, countertop, or the tub, shower, and the wall.
The growth of the black mould often happens on silicone in the bath and throughout the bathroom, as it is a difficult area to keep dry and clean.
Households that fail to clean this area as they see the mould start to form will find that it can get out of control.
This is what one cleaner had found when she had to tackle silicone sealant mould in a client’s bathroom.
Posting a photo of silicone shower sealant covered in black stains on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page, Laura Wastewater said: “Hello, what could I use to remove this mould from my client’s silicone sealant on their shower tray?

“Tried HG Mould Spray today (my client put it on first thing so it had several hours to get to work) but it didn’t remove any mould. Ideas appreciated, thanks in advance.”
Group members suggested that Laura use a different mould spray – the Astonish Mould and Mildew Blaster.
Rebecca Welsh said: “I’ve used the Astonish mould and mildew spray but leave overnight. You can cover with kitchen roll, but make sure the surfaces are dry before spraying.”

Posting a picture of the spray, Anita Bhatt commented: “No elbow grease required! Just spray and wait a bit, it’s amazing!”
Jem Badrudin claimed: “No soaking of paper roll or scrubbing needed. Just simply spray spray spray the cheap Astonish spray where there’s mould.

Previously speaking to Express.co.uk, Astonish’s cleaning expert Olivia Young claimed that a few sprays of this product will remove mould stains “in a matter of minutes”.
She said: “Simply spray, leave for two to three minutes and then wipe clean without the need for scrubbing.”
The expert explained that this specialist cleaner is made with an active formula, which means “not only does it tackle mould then and there”, it also “prevents the return of any mould or mildew” for months – bringing a sense of calmness back to bathrooms.
