And yet I think this game is a form of war that benefits the men. We are all pawns and soldiers here, but you are a master. I think the game of chess has been used to promote humanism, morality, and civilization, to keep men from killing one another. And I believe the game has helped men fight wars. I think that the men who played chess a long time ago were the same men who are now fighting wars with the same efficiency, the same accuracy, the same discipline, the same focus, the same determination, the same efficiency and a much greater advantage. I think men who played chess a long time ago will go on to fight wars with a great deal more efficiency and a great deal more effectiveness. This is not just my theory, this is proven fact. The soldiers who fight in the current wars today fought in WWI, WWII and all the previous wars. If they had to do it all over again, they would NOT have the same degree of success. My father fought in D-Day and came back alive to fight in Korea. My brother fought in the Korean War and came back alive to fight in Vietnam. I was a student in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. I did not become a doctor through hard work, I became a doctor through being in the military. So I say in closing, that chess has been used to promote humanism, morality, and civilization, to keep men from killing one another. And as chess players we must continue to use our abilities to promote civilization and humanism, the true way.
