Meanwhile, it’s important to remember that PIP payments can be stopped at any time.

Initial awards are usually made for three months, but can stretch up to 10 years in some cases.

When someone is granted a PIP award they will be told in writing how long they will receive payments for before it’s looked at again.

When a PIP award is under review, the DWP sends a new form to fill out and it’s really important to return it before the deadline to avoid benefits being stopped automatically.

There are two parts to PIP – the daily living part and the mobility part.

Whether someone gets one or both parts depends on how difficult they find everyday tasks and getting around.

Assessments are made on how a condition affects someone’s ability to work and go about everyday life, rather than the condition itself.

That said there are 19 conditions that typically qualify for PIP including psychiatric disorders and long covid.
