England cricketer Jonny Bairstow, the world number-two, is among six British players to be in Wales this week to introduce cricket to young people ahead of this years Invest in Cricket campaign. Among them is former Lancashire spinner Alastair Cook, the first British man to win a one-day international cap and a past winner of the World Cup. And former Surrey player Mike Brearley, the current World Cup co-winner, will be in Wales as a special guest of the Invest in Cricket Team. Former England batsman Alec Stewart has been invited to speak at the launch in the city centre today as he will be leading Englands team at next years World Cup in Australia. England will feature alongside South Africa, New Zealand and Ireland at the tournament. At the launch a number of schools from across Wales will be on hand including a primary school from Swansea. The Wales Cricket Board will also provide a cricket-themed mini oval for the event which will feature various features including batting cages and batting helmets. The Invest in Cricket campaign will launch on Thursday with events taking place in Cardiff, Bridgend, the M4 motorway and in the Rhondda Valley. 50million to upgrade the game in the UK Image: Getty Images, Todays Invest in Cricket event in Cardiff is being organised by UK Sport and is being co-ordinated by Wales Cricket Board and Rugby Wales who have been working together to launch the campaign together. Director of Sport England, Mark Pender and managing director of Rugby Scotland, Pat Fenlon will be on hand to speak at the event. All four teams will use Wales Cricket Board kit in a Cricket is For Everyone image. England has been a key partner in the campaign and has also been used in the UK SportWales Cricket Board partnership which also features the England flag on the front of the kits. Earlier today, South African spin bowler Chris Morris announced his country will play a full fixture schedule in 2017, with the event set to take place.
