Sophie Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward live at Mansion House in Bagshot Park, an estate close to Windsor, near the Queen. That may not be a surprise, as Sophie has long been said to be a favourite of the Queen.

Sophie and Edward, who married in 1999, live in the stunning home with their two children, Louise and James.

Fans were given a never before seen glimpse of the home as the couple spoke in an exclusive interview with The Telegraph Magazine.

In a gorgeous orangery, the Countess wore a floral skirt and loose blouse.

The couple gathered around a light wood table with matching chairs. They were surrounded by plants in terracotta pots.

The room looked out onto sprawling green grounds. The gorgeous home has 57 rooms and is set on 87 acres on the Crown Estate.

It is the biggest of any of the Queen’s children’s homes.

Bagshot Park is a Grade II building, red brick in a gothic Tudor style. Another image from the Telegraph showed Edward and Sophie with their arms around each other by the grand entrance to the home.

Here fans can see the stunning white stone and red brick pillars. There is also a glimpse of the home’s large windows.

When Sophie and Edward moved in the home was renovated to the tune of £2.18m, with the Prince paying £580,000 towards that sum.

The estate comprises multiple buildings, including stables which are let out by the Prince.

Before Sophie and Edward moved in the home was used by the royal Army Chaplains’ Department as a Church House and Chaplains’ Depot.

The grounds feature a large driveway with a huge turning circle in front of the house.

There are numerous courtyards and a large pond.

Bagshot itself is a village 11 miles from Windsor.

Sophie told Sky News previously: “We’re a lot more fortunate, because we live so close to the Queen, so when she spends a lot of time at Windsor at weekends, our children are more fortunate, because they can go over and have tea with her on a regular basis.”

Sophie was criticsed for some of her comments in the Telegraph interview relating to US TV talk show host Oprah.

Sophie defended the Archbishop of Canterbury for reportedly not knowing who Oprah was.

She said: “You know, if you’re not into chat shows, there’s no reason why you should know who she is. Certainly not in this country, anyway.”

The quote gave some cause to criticise the pair, accusing the Countess in particular of a “disconnect”.

A number of royal fans have thrown their support behind the Countess.

One wrote: “Sophie The Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward’s wife) was defending The Archbishop for not knowing Oprah.

“She was not ‘shading’ or ‘coming for’ Oprah. Context matters.”
