The above example is a simplified representation of the relationship between the system of coordinates and the visual representation of a 3D point on a 2D plane. The system of coordinates is used to specify the point on the plane. In contrast, the visual representation is used to describe the spatial relationship between the point on the plane and the object on the plane. The point on the plane is represented by its position on the line segment of the image plane, and the visual representation is used to describe the spatial relationship between the point on the plane and the object at that position on the line segment of the image plane. Thus, the system of coordinates is used to specify the point on the plane, and the visual representation is used to describe the spatial relationship between the point on the plane and the object at that position on the line segment of the image plane. However, because of the way in which the two representations are used to represent the spatial relationship between the point on the plane and the object, the two representations must be viewed from a different perspective and at different angles relative to each other to appreciate the information contained in each representation. This is because, when viewing the line segment of an image plane, the system views the point on the line segment at an angle, i. E the angle subtended in the direction of the line segment, or vector of vector lines, connecting the point on the line segment with the points on the plane, that is different from the angle of the visual representation of the point on the line segment. In turn, because the visual representation is viewing the point on the line segment from directly above and below, the visual representation is also viewing the point on the line segment at an angle different from the angle of the system of coordinates, as described above.
