AN expert mechanic has revealed a top service tip that could save hybrid owners thousands and avoid disaster.
Kris Buchowicz, who has worked in the motors industry since 2011, took to TikTok to explain how a little-known part can cause some very costly issues if not properly maintained.
Kris, who is based in Miami, Florida, told viewers that the batteries in hybrid cars have a filter, which is vital to the smooth running of the vehicle.
He said: "Hybrid vehicle owners, listen up.
"A lot of you guys might not be aware of this but your hybrid battery has its own filter.
"This filter is used to catch any sort of debris like hair and dust, which prevents it from building up inside your hybrid battery."

However, he warned that it's essential to have this filter changed regularly to prevent a build-up of dirt blocking off the battery from the air.
If this happens, it makes it harder for the battery to cool down and can lead to damage.
Kris added: "Without the proper amount of airflow across your hybrid battery, your battery cells will overheat and prematurely fail."
According to Kris, fixing failed battery cells, or even having to replace the whole unit, can cost thousands and leave your car effectively unusable.
