I was bored during lockdown so invented the world’s most transportable car seat – it changes the game on your holiday | The Sun

LOCKDOWN was different for all of us. Some took part in Zoom quizzes, others completed Netflix.

Leah Davis spent her time inventing a car seat, frustrated with the large, heavy and awkward-to-handle seats already on sale.

Speaking to The Sun, Leah said her RyRy Scallop is an "everyday car seat that is also compact and can travel with you."

The mum-of-three was sick of most car seat brands overlooking the size and convenience of their seats for parents.

But there was also the question of sustainability, which the Scallop has covered with the materials it's made from.

The days of having a seat for the car at home as well as an (often less safe) spare for your holidays are over.

The Scallop folds neatly into a backpack bag that's easy to carry.

The seat is also hand-luggage sized (52x40x25cm) for a plane's overhead locker and weighs just 9kg – light for a do-it-all seat.

It's designed for toddlers 76cm to 105cm in height or from around 15 months to approximately four or five years old.

You'll need a car with Isofix points to fit it, but the vast majority of new and used models have it as standard.

If you aren't sure whether yours does, Leah's made this handy guide to help.

She continued: "I have fully tested the Scallop to EU safety standards and it has the highest attainable EU safety certification.

"We've used sustainably sourced, anti-bacterial Merino Wool
and plant-based polymer foam, while the travel bags are made of recycled plastic water bottles.

"In fact, the only part that isn’t sustainable is the hard outer plastic shell, as recycled plastics lack the required strength."

And there's one more advantage – if you're lucky enough to own a sports car like a Porsche 911, the Scallop is narrow enough to slot two straight in the back.

The RyRy Scallop currently comes in four different colours white, black, grey and pink, and has an RRP of £399.
