Fans are furious after CEO gives shocking insight into upcoming blockbuster game – and they fight back | The Sun

World News

THE publisher of an upcoming game that players have asked for has dropped a major bombshell about its release.

Despite having asked for this game to come out for years, they are now hesitant about purchasing it.

Rockstar Games just announced that the original Red Dead Redemption game would be coming to PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Following the massive success of Red Dead Redemption 2, people wanted to dive into the original game, which is technically a sequel.

While they were excited about the game coming to more consoles, the one thing they were disappointed by was the price.

Red Dead Redemption is still available on Xbox Series X|S via its Xbox 360 backwards compatibility.

Gamers go wild over new version for one of the best-selling games of all time

If you purchase it here, you can grab it for just £25 ($29), and the upcoming ports add no improvements over the originals.

The price for the Nintendo Switch version has been revealed as £40 ($50), with the PlayStation version expected to be a similar cost.

What’s more shocking is that Red Dead Redemption was available through cloud streaming via PS Plus until October 2022, when it was removed from the service.

This means that subscribers could previously play the game for free on their PlayStation consoles.

Speaking to IGN, the CEO of publisher Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, had some concerning words to say about the issue.

When asked about the price increase, Zelnick said: “That's just what we believe is the commercially accurate price for it.”

Commercially accurate essentially means that £40 ($50) is the maximum amount that Take-Two can charge before gamers are turned off from the purchase.

While this might be true, it is obviously a very consumer-unfriendly viewpoint, and gamers were hoping for a more competitive price.

Xbox has often been seen as the best value console for gamers, with the cheapest current gen console, and the brilliant selection on Game Pass.

However, for those without an Xbox Series X|S, this is a big blow that could influence whether they purchase Red Dead Redemption or not.
