Elon Musk says he's 'giving serious thought' to building a new social media platform which focuses on free speech

World News

ELON Musk is "giving serious thought" to building a new social media platform.

Musk shared his thoughts on Twitter after being asked if a new platform is something he'd consider.

Twitter user Pranay Pathole prompted the conversation, which revealed Musk's thoughts on the matter.

"Would you consider building a new social media platform,
@elonmusk?," he tweeted.

"One that would consist an open source algorithm, one where free speech and adhering to free speech is given top priority, one where propaganda is very minimal. I think that kind of a platform is needed."

In recent days, Musk has ignited new debate over social media platforms and whether a new one is needed.

On March 25, he posted a poll to his Twitter account, asking users of the app a question about free speech.

"Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?," Musk asked, providing users the option to answer yes or no.
