Enlarge This is an example ofYou cant have it both ways. In this example, the law punishes a couple for adultery because they used their marriage as an occasion for committing adultery. Even though the law does not condone adultery outright, it does not condone adultery in a more passive way, such as through emotional blackmail. In other words, the law punishes adultery as such. The moral of the story, then, is that the law punishes adultery in a legal way, not in a moral way. The law punishes a couple for adultery because this couple failed to establish a marriage. The law isnt merely moral, it is also legal and in some ways even beneficial. Even though the law doesnt condone adultery outright, it does not condone adultery in a more passive way, such as through emotional blackmail. What about that other kind of adultery you cant condone. There is no law against adultery in the first place. In response to your own question, I must say that the laws on sexual morality vary from culture to culture. The laws on sexual morals vary from country to country. In general, I wouldnt even be able to attempt to define how to define this problem. Each country has its own set of moral guidelines. Some countries, such as the United States of America, have a liberal interpretation of sexual morality. Many other countries, such as the Russian Federation, have a rather strict interpretation of sexual morality. If there is no law against adultery in the first place, then what are you calling the law-abiding citizens who do have children out of wedlock. Arent these just people trying to do the right thing by following the rules. Some people would claim that There Is No Wrong Way to Marry which seems like a very valid argument, but then why do you think some people are monogamists and some are celibate. Why do some people keep themselves virgins while some commit adultery. Is it because some people are simply better than others when it comes to monogamy. When I first heard this argument I assumed you were making it just to sound reasonable. Youre saying that everyone who isnt married is just doing the wrong thing because marriage is a societal norm and if you dont conform to societal norms, youre punished by society.
